ACEFANUT (African Center for Family Nutrition) is a leading organization dedicated to addressing malnutrition and food insecurity across Africa. We work to improve family nutrition outcomes through:
Our goal is to create sustainable solutions that empower families and communities to achieve better nutritional outcomes.
ACEFANUT currently operates in two countries: Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). Our headquarters are located in Kampala, Uganda, while our regional office is based in Goma, DR Congo. Through our programs in these two countries, we are committed to improving food and nutrition security and enhancing the well-being of vulnerable communities. As we continue to grow, we aim to expand our operations and extend our impact to other countries facing similar food and nutrition security challenges across the region.
ACEFANUT is led by a dedicated team of nutrition experts, researchers, and development professionals. Our Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and governance, while our executive team manages day-to-day operations. Our leadership brings together decades of experience in public health nutrition, research, program management, and policy advocacy. We are proud to have a diverse team representing various African countries and international partners.
We implement a wide range of community-based nutrition interventions including:
All our interventions are evidence-based, culturally appropriate, and designed for long-term sustainability.
We ensure sustainability through several key approaches: building local capacity by training community members and local health workers; fostering community ownership by involving stakeholders in program design and implementation; establishing partnerships with local governments and organizations; creating income-generating activities linked to nutrition; developing locally appropriate solutions using available resources; and implementing robust monitoring systems that enable communities to continue programs independently after our direct involvement ends.
